What we did for the COP16 exhibition

First, we selected sustainable materials, in line with the theme of the conference. Then we developed exhibition elements that reflect the communities’ cultural richness and their ancestral connection with their environment.

We also designed every structure to be transported and assembled easily. In fact, we delivered the exhibition ready for another team to install in Cali.

A travelling exhibition works when it can be assembled without relying on the people who designed it. For this reason, the design had to be clear, modular and easy to follow for the installation team. In addition, well-resolved pieces reduce installation time and the risk of damage in transit.

How we build a travelling exhibition

• Modular design: first, we break the exhibition down into pieces that can be shipped and assembled quickly.
• Materials: then we choose materials that withstand the journey and, when the project calls for it, are sustainable.
• Fabrication: next, we build the structures and check that they fit together before dispatch.
• Hand-over: finally, we pack the pieces and provide clear instructions for the installation team.

The result

An exhibition that took the Indigenous traditions of the Sierra Nevada to COP16, the UN biodiversity conference under the Convention on Biological Diversity. As a result, the COP16 exhibition brought together history, culture and sustainability.
