We conceptualised and designed the CREER publication “Cómo evitar correr antes que caminar”, on social capital. Its title means “How to avoid running before you can walk”.
Turn detailed research on social capital into a clear document. Readers also had to grasp the topic without losing the depth of the analysis.
First, we developed the concept from the research, so the design would follow the content and not the other way round. Then we combined the layout with graphic elements and visuals that reinforce the message in every section.
We also set an organised visual structure and legible typography that guide the reader from start to finish. As a result, headings, highlights and graphics mark a clear path through the document. In this way, the key ideas stand out quickly, even when it is read in parts. We also made sure the visuals support the argument without distracting from the content.
Research writing tends to be dense. For this reason, editorial design plays a practical role here: it adds pauses, hierarchy and visual support that make reading easier. In other words, the design helps readers move forward without tiring and return easily to the key points.
A clear, cohesive publication that makes social capital easier to understand and presents the information in a visually structured way. In short, the design brings specialist research closer to a wider audience.
