Project brief.

Between 2021 and 2023 we designed the Kroc Institute report, the annual report on the implementation of Colombia’s Final Peace Agreement.

The challenge behind the Kroc Institute report

Turn complex data on the agreement’s progress into a comprehensive report. It also had to be easy to read and understand, year after year.

What we did for the Kroc Institute report

First, we developed the concept for the report and decided how to tell each year’s progress. Then we produced the full layout of the document. We also created the graphic elements and data visualisations that explain complex figures and processes.

To do this, we built an organised structure that clearly presents the progress and results of each period. As a result, readers can go through the report chapter by chapter or jump straight to the topic they need. In addition, working on the same report over several years let us keep a consistent visual line across editions.

Data visualisation is essential in a document like this. In other words, a good chart sums up at a glance what would take several pages of text.

How we design data-heavy reports

  • Content review: first, we read the research and spot which data needs visual support.
  • Architecture: then we organise chapters, sections and heading levels to guide the reader.
  • Visualisation: next, we turn the figures into charts, tables and infographics that are easy to read.
  • Layout and sign-off: finally, we lay out the full document and refine it with the client’s team.

The result

A report that became a key tool for communicating the progress and impact of the agreement. In this way, it combines analytical rigour with effective design. The Kroc Institute, part of the University of Notre Dame, had a clear document to present its monitoring work. The project also shows how editorial design can serve topics of real public interest.
